[Southeast University News Network, March 14] (Correspondent: SEU Publicity) On March 13, an unfortunate news came from the command post of Guangdong medical team assisting Jingzhou of Hubei Province that Wang Shuo, an excellent alumnus of Southeast University enrolled in 2002, a member of the Communist Party of China, a member of the national epidemiological investigation and inspection team, a member of Guangdong medical team assisting Jingzhou Hubei Province, and the attending physician of Guangdong Province Hospital for Occupational Disease Prevention and Treatment, died in the line of duty in Hubei against the epidemic.
In the evening of that day, Wang Shuo was knocked down by a fast-moving van from the back on the way of visiting the community to check the epidemic prevention and control. The rescue failed and he died unfortunately at 23:00 at that night.
Upon hearing of this unfortunate news, all teachers, students and alumni both at home and abroad felt very sad, expressed deep condolences to the sudden death of the alumnus Wang Shuo, and condoled to his family members with great sympathy. The WeChat Moments were full of deep regret, grief, resentment and admiration. The school leaders called Guangdong medical team assisting Jingzhou of Hubei Province and his family members to express heartfelt condolences.
Alumnus Wang Shuo was studying at the School of Public Health of Southeast University specializing in preventive medicine from 2002 to 2007. During his study period, Wang Shuo, with excellent study results, cheerful personality and being kind to help others, impressed his classmates with warm smiles, persistence and courage. He has been engaged in public health since his graduation and has developed himself to the business backbone of Guangdong Province Hospital for Occupational Disease Prevention and Treatment. As a member of the national epidemiological investigation and inspection team, he fought against the epidemic in Jingzhou, Hubei province to the last moment of his life. Southeast University feels proud of having such a good alumnus, and also feels shocked and sad for losing such a good alumnus.
Alumnus Wang Shuo is the pride of Southeast University. He embodied SEU’s spirit of being courageous to serve the country and selfless dedication to the people. In his WeChat Moments on Feb. 18, he once wrote: “Jingzhou of Hubei Province is known as the hometown of fish and birds since the ancient time, but the aggressive novel coronavirus is raging on this land. Courageous soldiers from South China will never return without finding out the truth.” His spirit and deeds have reflected the responsibility of a person in the field of public health and also the undertaking of a SEU graduate, which will certainly inspire more students from Southeast University to carry forward his spirit and strive for the magnificent “two-centennial objective” of Chinese nation. All teachers, students and alumni of Southeast University both at home and abroad will always miss him. All medical team members of Southeast University in the frontline fighting against the epidemic in Hubei Province will inherit his spirit and fight to the final moment of winning the victory over the epidemic.
