About the Speaker:

Prof. Wan Junren is distinguished professor of Chang Jiang Scholars Program started by Ministry of Education. He is also professor, doctoral supervisor, and director of Department of Philosophy of Tsinghua University, director of Academic Committee of Humanities and Social Sciences, member of Academic Committee of Tsinghua University, member of Professor Nominating Committee of Tsinghua University, and the leader of liberal arts group of the Professor Nominating Committee. Prof. Wan is the chairman of China Association For Ethical Studies, the chief professor and convener of “Ethics” in “Marxism Program”. He was awarded as “Beijing Outstanding Young Teacher”(1991), “Cross-century Academic Backbone Talent of Peking University”(1994). He is a member of “Hundred Talents theory Program”(1996), and “Outstanding Young Teacher” by Ministry of Education(2002). He won the second prize of Beijing Outstanding Achievement Award of Philosophy and Social Sciences twice(1996, 2004), the first prize of Peking University Outstanding Achievement Award of Young Teachers(1996), the 1st 505 Chinese Culture Award(1996), and the first prize of translation of the 1st Academic Award of China Association For Ethical Studies, etc.. Prof. Wan Junren also works as academic advisor of Institute for Cultural Industries of Peking University, researcher of National Key Discipline Base of Department of Philosophy in Peking University, visiting professor of Zhejiang University and Wuhan University, etc..

Prof. Wan’s research fields are ethics and political philosophy. He has published over 20 academic monograph and translations of over 20 books. He has published over 200 research papers and over 50 articles both at home and abroad.
