Prof. Teng Gaojun from Southeast University Was Granted the “Gold Medalist Award” by Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology in 2019

On February 23, 2019 Academic Conference of Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology was convened in Indonesia. Prof. Teng Gaojun, a famous interventional medicine expert, President of the Interventional Physician Branch of Chinese Medical Doctor Association and President of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University, was granted the “Gold Medalist Award” by Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology. Gold award. Prof. Andrew Holden, the current Chairman of Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology presented the award to Prof. Teng Gaojun.

Prof. Teng Gaojun, the current President of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University and Director of Interventional and Vascular Surgery Department, is the former Chairman of Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology (2016-2018). As an internationally renowned expert in interventional medicine, he has invented a number of new interventional technologies and devices in his career for over three decades, which have played a unique role in the treatment and medical researches on various diseases including esophageal cancer, malignant tumor, liver cancer and spinal disease, etc.. He has published numerous academic papers on famous journals such as “The Lancet Tumor” and won three National Science and Technology Progress Awards. In 2015, he was granted the Distinguished Fellow of Cardiovascular and Interventional Radiological Society of Europe (CIRSE); in 2017, he was awarded the Gold Medal, the highest honor by US Society for Interventional Radiology (SIR). This award enabled him to be first Chinese doctor who has won the highest honor in three major international interventional academic organizations in Europe, the United States and Asia Pacific respectively.

Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology, founded in 1993, is the only international interventional radiology society in the Asia-Pacific region and also the third largest interventional radiology organization in the world. It is composed of more than 20 member countries and regions including China, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand, etc. The “Gold Medalist Award” of Asia-Pacific Society of Cardiovascular & Interventional Radiology was established in 2010 to recognize the outstanding contributions and lifelong achievements made by members of the Society in the field of interventional radiology.
